im sad to see these changes...and such a boring object. childs was the worst choice for this. american architecture...yet another piece of stale architecture.
i'm not defending childs, but it seems that the new designs aren't really his fault, more that of the fucking politicians. they are so concerned with defending the building against terrorists instead of dealing with the problem of terrorism directly (foreign policy anyone?), that the building is now destined to become a failure. i hate politicians.
man this is lame. i agree with sam this has become a political issue and less about memorialising a tragedy by exibiting reverence for the dead, rebuilding for the living, and the continuation of life and commerce in the cultural capital of america. the building is grotesque. it reminds me of a paper weight you would find on donald trumps desk. it is however a perfect representation of current american policy, culture and thought process. for the most part only free thinking, educated people with an eye for aesthetics and design will oppose this structure. the masses will hail this as a victory for "homeland" security, capitalism, and the american way. the way of the dodo.
